Altador Cup I
One of the most celebrated participants in the Altador Cup actually has the unlikely role of serving as the ball. Yooyus, the Petpets that are an essential part of the game Yooyuball, are greatly honoured and valued in Altador. Only the most healthy and physically fit Yooyus are chosen for participation in tournament matches, which is why many train their entire lives for a chance to play the renowned game.
When Yooyuball was first created, the citizens of Altador wanted to celebrate their new city by creating a game unlike any that Neopia had ever seen before. It was during this time that Altadorians first discovered the Yooyu species. This amazing Petpet, which was incredibly hardy and quite intelligent, had the ability to curl itself into the shape of a ball. Ever since then, Yooyus have been taken in and treated like tiny kings, training to be the very best so that they may one day get a chance to participate in this unique but enjoyable sport.
There are a variety of different Yooyus that are used in each game, which gives the sport an unpredictable twist. For example, a team might alter its particular strategy depending on the type of Yooyu that's currently in play.
Fire: This Yooyu must be transferred very quickly between team-mates, since keeping it too long can result in some rather unpleasant burns.
Snow: This kind of Yooyu makes for a very slow ball, and its piercing cold slows the muscles of those playing with it.
Mutant: This Yooyu is extremely unpredictable and will often move in crazy patterns.
Faerie: In this form, the Yooyu floats lightly through the air, leaving players to wonder when it will drop down low enough for them to capture and pass it.
Before each game of Yooyuball begins, choose the formation you want your players to stand in. Then, select which direction you'd like to move the ball down the field.
Using your mouse, point at the player you'd like to move around. This will select the player. Guide your selected player around the field using your mouse. When your player has possession of the ball, click the left mouse button to shoot.
If you want to unselect your player, press the spacebar or the 'S' key.
When none of your players are selected, you can click anywhere on the field to move the closest player to the position you clicked on.
If you'd like to toggle between players, press the left and right arrow keys (or the 'A' and 'D' keys). To activate a player when toggling between them, press the spacebar.
Press the Shift key to move your players back to their starting positions.
Should a keeper hold onto the Yooyu for any longer than five seconds, the Yooyu will escape the keeper's hands and throw itself out onto the field for any team's player to intercept.

There is a variety of different Yooyus that are used in each game (including three new additions for this year's Cup), which gives the sport an unpredictable twist. Skillful Yooyuball players will adjust their strategy depending on the type of Yooyu that's currently in play.
Normal: The most common form, this Yooyu behaves as you might expect, without any surprises.
Fire: Given the excessive heat and flames it puts out, this Yooyu must be transferred very quickly between teammates, which is what this fastest of the Yooyus would prefer, anyway.
Snow: This kind of Yooyu makes for a very slow ball, and its piercing cold slows the muscles of those playing with it.
Faerie: This Yooyu floats high and bends through the air, leaving players to wonder when it will drop down low enough for them to capture and pass it.
Darigan: This misbehaving Yooyu flies off at unexpected angles. Be very careful with it when you are in front of your own goal.
Mutant: This Yooyu is extremely unpredictable, moving in a variety of patterns reminiscent of the Fire, Snow, Faerie and Darigan Yooyus.
Clockwork: A wind-up robotic Yooyu toy that will explode within seconds if it isn't immediately put into a goal.

Your contribution to your team's standings depends upon how well you play Yooyuball, with the calculation being based on the goal deficit for each game you play. If, for example, you send a winning score of 4 - 2, you will contribute 2 Yooyuball points to your team's daily score. If you send a winning score of 8 - 0, you will contribute 8 Yooyuball points to your team's daily score. Draws and losing scores are counted as zero Yooyuball points, so you definitely want to try to win.
